Wedding & Events
At Coton House Farm

Nestled in the picturesque village of Whittington in rural Staffordshire, sits Coton House Farm. The farm has been in the village since the earliest maps of the area, dating back to the 16th Century, where the farm was a rest point in the journey to market in nearby historical Lichfield for the local beef farmers.

The beautiful, exclusive use oak wedding barn gives bright, natural light across one side of the building onto oak beams and floor. In the evening subtle lighting creates a romantic, magical atmosphere. The interior of the barn has neutral decor to allow you to bring your own special theme, detail and creativity to the venue and personalise your very special day, suited equally from a shabby chic treatment to a traditional classical theme.

Outside leads onto a large terrace with fire pits and access to the garden and seated area with unobstructed views over acres of Staffordshire countryside. Coton House Farm provides an idyllic country setting for a relaxed, rustic wedding.

About
The Venue

As a fully licenced venue for live and recorded music, with a loaded bar with affordable price points, we can also offer bespoke drink packages to compliment your choice of menu.

Should you wish to exchange your vows with us here at Coton House Farm, we are licensed to hold Civil Ceremonies, and can discuss the options available to you when we meet.

If you would prefer a traditional church wedding, the local church of St Giles’ Whittington, built in 1761, is just a short stroll away.

Up to 120 guests can be seated comfortably in the wedding barn for your reception, on round tables seating between 8 and 10. The bar is situated towards the back of the room, with doors onto a separate outdoor seating area for those needing some respite from the dancing.

Our wonderful in house Chef’s offer bespoke menus for all tastes of wedding reception, using the very best local produce, including Aberdeen Angus Beef from Coton House Farm.

Joining them are our team of dedicated staff who add to the warm welcome that you and your guests will receive on the day, offering the very best standards of service to match that of the exceptional food.

Meet
The Team

Husband & wife team Darren and Helen launched their wedding business in 2015 with the aspiration to provide an authentic, personal approach to hosting weddings.

Coton House Farm is a real family business, it’s a working farm with a far-reaching history that is evident from the moment you arrive. Darren and Helen are the perfect hosts, sharing their farm with the couples and their families that choose to get married with them. Darren, Helen, Patrick, Zara, Niamh and Lughaidh will give you the warmest welcome.

The oak wedding barn prides itself on offering a simple pricing structure to allow couples to maintain control over the all-important budget. We offer the venue hire, and food and beverage packages together, so that keeps everything nice and simple.

“We know that weddings are expensive and things begin to add up very quickly when planning your day. Sometimes keeping to your budget, and still see your dreams come to life can be tricky, so we want to ensure that our couples know their costs upfront, as soon as they have chosen their menu package.”

We walk all of our couples through the venue and planning process and discuss exactly how they would like the day to flow, so that we can take as much of the pressure away from them on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly, allowing each couple to focus on the most important part of the day – creating memories.

The majority of staff who work at Coton House Farm came to us as junior horse riders. They have remained with us as staff and have grown with us as part of the Coton House Farm Family. They all take pride in what we do and will take great pleasure in helping to make your event very special. We aim for the highest of standards, providing excellence, integrity, service, quality, honesty and value, charm and cheekiness. We hold these as our core values.

“So many wedding venues lose that personal touch when they become blueprints for each other. We saw an opportunity to offer something different at Coton House Farm – a far more individual experience, where our couples can bring their own personalities into the details. No two weddings are ever the same here, and that’s what we wanted to create.”

Darren Martin

“We love getting to know the couples we work with, understanding their personalities and helping to bring their ideas to life. We feel very honoured to be part of their wedding day”.

FAQ

Here are some of our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ which may assist with the planning of your event.

A. Yes, your wedding will be the only wedding party at the venue. No-one else will have access to your venue or grounds other than your invited guests.

A. Yes you can. We hold a licence for Civil Ceremonies, and can discuss the finer details with you when we meet.

A. You will be able to access the venue from 9am that morning or earlier by negotiation with us and the caterers.

A. The Venue hire is the fee charged for the Wedding venue. This is for exclusive use of the high end venue. It incorporates all of the furniture that you require in tables and chairs, glassware, dancefloor, fully stocked and licenced bar. Patio, gardens and outside furniture. We are also close at hand to advise you during the planning of your Wedding.

A. No, we do not allow Corkage. We price the sale of alcohol at very reasonable prices so it would be unlikely that corkage fees would be of any benefit. We are a responsible licensee, and licensed in the same way as a public house, and for the control of alcohol, we do not allow alcohol not purchased at Coton House Farm on site. This is maintained as part of our licensing duties.

A. Only caterers authorised as our preferred suppliers are able to work at Coton House Farm. This is to protect you, your guests and our reputation. Coton House Farm has designed extensive and bespoke menus for our events. All of our food is locally sourced, prepared and cooked fresh, here in our own kitchens by our highly trained and skilled gourmet chefs. We are able to provide the highest quality at the best prices.

A. No, as it is not included within our fees. We can arrange a DJ for you from our approved DJ’s list, but they will require payment directly. You can of course have your own choice of DJ, who must supply Coton House Farm with a copy of their insurance and PAT certification.

A. Yes of course, we love live bands as they are perfectly suited to our venue. Again they must provide insurance and PAT certification.

A. I am afraid not. Coton House Farm is a working livestock farm and we would have a duty of care to our animals.

A. At the moment we do not provide accommodation. In the nearby historic City of Lichfield, we have many wonderful Hotels, bed and breakfasts and Inns. We also have some within 5 mins walk from Coton House Farm.

A. The venue is licensed until Midnight, and I am afraid we are not able to extend beyond this time except at New Year.

A. Yes, we are. The venue is wheelchair user friendly and we will take every effort to accommodate individual requirements. We are also Autism friendly.
